
A powerful flow generated by heavy rain made for sometimes difficult conditions at Neptune Regatta, but the event finished on time and in reasonably dry weather.
Commercial’s men’s senior eight beat the hosts in the straight final. Neptune continued to make a fight if it to the closing stages, but Commercial had taken a one-length lead early on and were never headed. Scott Addison of Commercial said the flow had been ‘bonkers’ but he was glad everyone came through safely.
The men’s coxed four final (above) provided an exciting finish to the day. In calm water, Commercial and Neptune duked it out past the boat clubs, with Commercial taking the honours.
UCD were powerful winners of the women’s coxed four, while Commercial’s good day also included a win in the women’s junior 16 eight.
Niall Beggan won the men’s senior single while Alex Gillick of Neptune was the best junior single sculler.
Enniskillen were disqualified in the men’s junior 18 eight, and Blackrock took the honours.
