
Ireland had three heat winners on the first day of the Memorial Paolo d’Aloja in Piediluco in Italy today.
Aoife Casey and Margaret Cremen (above) competed in the heavyweight double sculls and won their heat. In tomorrow’s A Final they will take on Sanita Puspure and Zoe Hyde, who made it through having finished third in their heat.
The women’s pair of Fiona Murtagh and Tara Hanlon came home first in their heat, and Hugh Moore matched them in the lightweight single.
Philip Doyle and Daire Lynch were given a competitive outing together as a double and took second in their heat. Brian Colsh and Konan Pazzaia were fifth in their heat of the double. The Ireland men’s four took fourth in their heat.
The first set of finals are scheduled for Saturday morning and there are heats in the afternoon/evening. The second set of finals will be held on Sunday.
