Ireland’s junior women’s pair were hugely impressive as they won gold at the Coupe de la Jeunesse this morning in Linz, Austria.
The Ireland crew had a one-length lead by 200 metres and built on this all the way down the course to win by almost nine seconds. France were second and Italy third.
The Ireland crew of Patti Mullin from Belfast and Evelina Zakarauskaite from Galway (above, on podium) had also won gold on Saturday in this European junior tournament.
The Ireland junior women’s quadruple took silver on Saturday, but they missed out by one place on Sunday. They had a fast finish, but could not quite catch France, who took bronze.
Poland and the Netherlands took gold and silver.
