John McCarthy, one of the three candidates for president of Rowing Ireland, has pulled out of the race.
The Cork Boat Club man had pledged to be a strong voice for clubs if elected. However, one of the new governance measures, which he supports, would take away the automatic power of the president to chair meetings. Given this situation, he felt that there might be a conflict in his campaigning for the role in those circumstances.
He stressed that he wished both remaining candidates good luck in their campaigns.
The agm will be online and in-person at The National Sports Campus on Sunday. Clubs have been asked to vote online on Friday and Saturday.
