Cork Boat Club and Skibbereen (pictured below)  took the men’s and women’s eights at Skibbereen Regatta.
St Joseph’s of Galway gave Cork a battle in the Division One men’s final, while Skibbereen’s junior 18 eight had a more emphatic win in the women’s A Final at the National Rowing Centre.
In the first set of finals, University of Limerick extended their excellent run at the event. In a light mist and on flat water, they were on the mark in three of the four Division One finals raced in this session.
Niamh Coffey and Lauren O’Brien finished first in the women’s double, with UL also taking second, while the women’s four of Orla Gaffney, Caoimhe O’Sullivan, Amy Barrett and Riosín Merz (pictured) won the women’s four. The men’s double of Kealan Mannix (UL) and Joe Tanner of Shandon then powered home.
Cork Boat club won the other Division One final on offer, the men’s four. Indeed, they went one better, placing first and second – and they would go on to win the eight.
