An early start and finish and rowable conditions were part of a successful first day of the huge Skibbereen Regatta at the National Rowing Centre.
University of Limerick were big winners. Their men’s and women’s quadruples won, as did their women’s coxed four and single sculler Kealan Mannix (pictured).
Neptune’s men’s coxed four placed first and third in their A Final, while Cork Boat Club won one of the closest races of the day, the A Final of the men’s pair. Jonny Cuddy and Thomas Earley had .32 of a second to spare over Jack Smith and Adam Browne of Commercial.
Siobhán McCrohan of Tribesmen won the women’s single from Cliodhna Nolan of UCC by a margin of just under eight seconds, while a Galway crew were also the fastest women’s pair: Coláiste Iognáid’s junior 18 unit came out on top.
